  # Slack App Credentials – Setup Steps

  Follow these steps to create a Slack App, configure the required permissions, install it in your workspace, and securely obtain the Bot User OAuth Token.

  ## Step 1: Open Slack App Management

  Open the official Slack Apps page:

  [Slack API – Your Apps](https://api.slack.com/apps)

  1. Sign in to your Slack account.
  2. Select the correct Slack workspace.

  ## Step 2: Create a Slack App

  1. Click **Create New App**.
  2. Select **From scratch**.
  3. Enter the **App Name**.
  4. Select the required **Slack Workspace**.
  5. Click **Create App**.

  ### Example App Name

  `ZeroX Integration`

  ## Step 3: Open OAuth & Permissions

  1. Open the newly created Slack App.
  2. From the left menu, select **OAuth & Permissions**.
  3. Scroll to the **Scopes** section.
  4. Find **Bot Token Scopes**.

  [Slack OAuth & Permissions](https://docs.slack.dev/authentication/installing-with-oauth/)

  ## Step 4: Add Required Bot Permissions

  1. Under **Bot Token Scopes**, click **Add an OAuth Scope**.
  2. Add the permissions required by the integration.

  For sending Slack messages, add:

  ```text theme={null}
  chat:write
  ```

  [Slack `chat:write` Scope](https://docs.slack.dev/reference/scopes/chat.write/)

  > **Security recommendation:** Add only the permissions required by the application.

  ## Step 5: Install the App

  1. Go to **OAuth & Permissions**.
  2. Find **OAuth Tokens for Your Workspace**.
  3. Click **Install to Workspace**.
  4. Review the requested permissions.
  5. Click **Allow**.

  If you see **Request to Install**, contact your Slack Workspace Administrator for approval.

  After installation:

  1. Go to **OAuth & Permissions**.
  2. Scroll to **OAuth Tokens for Your Workspace**.
  3. Find **Bot User OAuth Token**.

  The token normally starts with:

  ```text theme={null}
  xoxb-
  ```

  ### Example Token Format

  ```text theme={null}
  xoxb-XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
  ```

  > **Important:** Do not use the example token. Copy the actual token generated for your Slack workspace.

  ## Step 7: Add the Bot to the Required Channel

  1. Open the Slack channel where the integration will be used.
  2. Add or invite the Slack App/Bot to the channel.
  3. For a private channel, make sure the bot is explicitly added to the channel.

  ## Step 8: Provide the Credential Securely

  If the integration requires only the **Bot User OAuth Token**, provide:

  ```text theme={null}
  Slack Workspace: <Workspace Name>
  Bot User OAuth Token: xoxb-...
  ```

  > **Security Warning:** Never share the actual token in public Slack channels, GitHub repositories, Jira comments, documentation, screenshots, or other publicly accessible locations.
